Seminar SPM & STPM

The seminar will be help at the HICT Auditorium Hall, Klang, this Sunday, 11th of October'09 from 8.30am-12pm.

This seminar is basically about how you can pursue your tertiary education after SPM/STPM. This seminar is specifically for Form5 and Upper 6 Science Stream students. This helpful seminar talks on topics such as Pharmacy, Dentistry, Medicine, Pilot Training, Engineering, Foundation in Science and so on.

& we know how much you're trying to save for college fee, so no worries bout this event's entrance fee. It's a free-of-charge event to prevent holes in your pockets. This event includes a short refreshment break for you guys to take it all in. The dress code for that day would be either formal wear, school uniform, or smart casual.

Festive Cheers

This year, Festive Cheers was decided to be held at Royal Klang Club on Sunday, the 27th of September. The main purpose of organising this annual event was to provide assistance to the less fortunate and underprivileged families and homes in celebrating both Hari Raya and Deepavali since they were unable to do so due to certain reasons.

Fellow interactors who attended the event pitched in to help make final preparations before the event, which began at 3.00p.m., as well as entertaining the children. There were also interactors who volunteered to perform for the guests by singing.

Rotarians helped to present the collection of hampers including cash to the families, homes and individuals as gifts after giving their respective speeches. The event ended with a group photo session of the guests, Rotarians and hard-working interactors.

Talentime

Interactors in formal attire gathered at the HICT Auditorium on the morning of Saturday, the 26th of September 2009, either as part of the event’s entertainment, or just to witness the participants share their unique and special talents on stage. Talentime was organised as a tribute to the late Yasmin Ahmad, who was a critically-acclaimed multi-award winning film director, writer, and script writer from Malaysia.

The talent competition was named after one of her recent movies. It started at about 9.00a.m. after all the guests had registered upon arrival and took their seats. Soon after the introductions and speeches at the beginning of the event, the performances commenced, either individually or in groups. Several talented performers from their respective schools courageously took turns to shine on stage in the auditorium with an array of impressive performances which included singing, dancing, magic tricks and what not.

Each fine display of talent was being judged by a panel of three who were brought in to narrow it down to five finalists. They were incredibly experienced in the arts, particularly dancing. The crowd of spectators which filled the spacious auditorium was not much of a large one that day.

Nevertheless, the audience was required to take part in deciding who deserved to be the winner of the talent competition by voting for one of the five finalists as soon as they were revealed. Interactors marked their choice on the piece of paper given before the show and inserted them in the provided ballot box before going for break and refreshments.

It was not long until the official counting of the votes was finished and the interactors were called back into the auditorium where the positions of the five finalists were announced. The five finalists were given cash and consolation prizes depending on the number of votes each of them acquired from the audience.

Next, souvenirs were too presented to each of the three judges for their assistance in the competition. Talentime came to an end after the winning group gave an encore performance. Fellow interactors and Rotarians, who undoubtedly enjoyed the wonderful show, left the auditorium accordingly knowing that attending the event was indeed well worth their time.

Repainting School Basketball Court

On the morning of Tuesday, the 22nd of September 2009, our fellow interactors gathered at the school basketball court at about half past eight to get started on repainting the area, unselfishly putting aside their holiday plans to participate in the project.

Our Interact Club decided to work together with the Basketball Club of High School Klang in order to increase productivity and complete the task in a shorter time period. After acquiring the necessary painting supplies for the job, interactors and Basketball Club members began dipping their brushes in the red and yellow paint and worked on renewing the faded paint of the court with as much detail as possible.

Each and every one of them endured the scorching heat of the Sun while slowly painting the lines which run through the place. Some of them took turns continuing from where the previous person left off, since there was a slight shortage of brushes.

While waiting, they held umbrellas to shade the hard workers from the extreme heat. Everybody chatted with one another as they painted. It definitely was not long before the basketball court had a brand new coat of paint.

Cleaning Of The Interact Room

Work began on cleaning the Interact Room on the 29th of August 2009, during the holiday break. Some among our Board of Directors, including our President, gathered at school at about 8.00a.m. and started tidying up without wasting any time.

All of them had to first empty out the old, unused and most probably spoilt documents, files, books, office equipment and other dusty rubbish from the area. The room had been used as a counseling room for extremely long time and our club was fortunate enough to be given the space.

Our interactors were efficient trying to make the room as neat as possible, carrying bits and pieces of trash out of there as well as shifting old furniture. Each of the possibly recyclable items were arranged accordingly outside the room so that they could be dealt with later whereas the rubbish was carefully packed into plastic bags and thrown away.

As for the status of the Interact Room, it still requires a lot of cleaning so the project remains in progress at the moment. With a few more helping hands from our fellow interactors, it is just a matter of time before we make the room not only a more comfortable place to be, but it will also look like new.

Car Wash for Co-Curriculum Day

Our Interact Club made a decision to set up a car-washing service in order to raise funds for the club on Co-Curriculum Day or ‘Hari Ko-Kurikulum’ which was held on the 4th of August 2009.

Before the day arrived, tickets were sold to teachers and students who desired their car to be washed at a remarkably reasonable price. Interactors who previously volunteered to contribute their assistance in the job came to school early that morning with the cleaning equipment they were instructed to bring along, from buckets and cloths to a vacuum.

The car wash began as soon as they were prepared to clean the cars parked at the school parking lot beside the hall. Vehicle after vehicle our interactors washed, and some vacuumed, until each and every one of the cars were as clean as a whistle. The determination and hard work of our interactors ensured that absolutely all the cars were done with by the end of Co-Curriculum Day.

They had tremendous fun while performing the task and it can honestly be said that almost all the customers were satisfied with the results, the spick and span condition of their vehicles when they arrived to pick them up.

Farewell Party

Prescott Hotel was our venue of choice to hold our ‘Majlis Perpisahan’ on the 1st of August 2009 and what a fantastic evening it was. The purpose of this farewell party was to show our tremendous gratitude towards the Board of Directors of 08/09 for all the sacrifices, hard work and dedication that they have put into the Interact Club of High School Klang through the past year.

The dinner function commenced at about 6.00p.m. but quite a number of our current Board of Directors had already arrived there an hour or two before then in order to make final preparations. The rented ballroom was packed with a handful of senior interactors along with invited guests, all of which were either on time for the dinner or fashionably late.

Unfortunately, the teacher advisor of our Interact Club and the invited Rotarian advisors, our supposed guests of honour, were unable to attend our farewell party. The evening began with short speeches presented by both our current and past President of our Interact Club, Choo Kok Sang and Teh Chuan Hoong.

Soon after that, everybody exited the ballroom and into the hallway where a large buffet dinner awaited them. It could be seen from their facial expressions, while they were lining up at the buffet table holding their plates and cutlery, that they could not wait to sink their teeth into the variety of exquisite delicacies which laid before them.

From the main course to the desserts, it was without doubt a truly satisfying meal for those who were present that evening.Immediately after eating, some of our fellow interactors gladly volunteered themselves to perform on stage, namely singing and dancing. Absolutely everyone had an enjoyable time watching and taking photographs of the unique performances which was followed by a short souvenir giving ceremony.

Each of the current Board of Directors took their turns presenting the scented candles to their respective predecessors.The entertainment then continued for a while longer before the farewell party ended with shooting photographs of one another and also the entire group. It was definitely an evening to remember for every individual who attended and had wonderful fun.
